Solitaire Rules: The Complete Klondike Guide
Classic Klondike Solitaire is played with one standard 52-card deck. The objective is to move every card to four foundation piles, building each suit from Ace through King.
The seven tableau piles
The tableau contains seven columns. The first column contains one card, the second two, continuing until the seventh contains seven cards. Only the top card in each column starts face up.
The stock and waste
Cards not dealt to the tableau form the stock. When you draw a card, it becomes available in the waste pile. Depending on the rule set, the stock may be played one card at a time or in groups; this site uses a simple one-card draw experience.
Moving cards
Tableau sequences are built downward with alternating colors. For example, a black 9 can be placed on a red 10. A King can start an empty tableau column.
Foundation piles
Each foundation starts with an Ace and continues upward in the same suit until the King.
Winning
The game is won when all 52 cards have been moved into the four foundations.
